In photoshop, you don’t worry about the target media when you are building the image/picture. You create the image, and then print it at whatever settings you like. There is an abstraction between the created image and the printing render engine. THAT is what windows does!
Most printers can handle alot of pixels or ‘dots’, that said, Photoshop doesn’t work in ‘dots’. It works for most creative pictures as objects in layers, which when rendered as a whole, creates the actual image.
Get creative, make a picture, and then print it to your printer in whatever the maximum resolution your printer will handle….
