Ways to capture images have always fascinated the human mind. The fact that photography has evolved from simple black and white blurry to the present day high resolution photos taken by a quality digital camera is a testament to that statement. Gigantic names such as Sony, Kodak, Nikon, canon, Olympus remind us of the intricate technology that has been brought to bring about this change. This evolution has been so widespread that it is sometimes difficult to choose which camera suits our requirements from almost a sea of options. This is where reviews come handy.
Digital Camera reviews help people focus on their requirements. These are basically the hardcore, honest opinions of the people who have already purchased a specific camera and are already using them. The reliability level of such reviews is greatly enhanced because they come from common users who can be very open about the flaws in a product contrary to the manufacturers. Such reviews are widely dispersed over the internet.
Factors such as battery life, operating functions, photo resolution, zoom, and memory are just a few of the pivoting elements which are easily available in such reviews. Reviews also show that over the past one decade almost the same major companies have been producing the best cameras. Cameras such as the Nikon Coolpix 950, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F505, and Canon PowerShot G1 are the ones that were released around 1999 and were the precursors of today’s advanced models. It is also easily noticeable that only Canon and Sony where the only two manufacturers that have been consistently been available in the competition and have proved out to be great.
Various websites are a testament to that fact denoted by the large number of clicks that have been made to the pages leading to their products. It won’t be unfair to state that Sony and Canon literally are the best in the market which is evident from first hand people’s reviews.
This year a lot of digital cameras have found their place in the ‘highly recommended’ position in reviews with almost equal contribution by Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Pentax, Olympus, and Fujifilm. Sony on the other hand saw its best last year in the shape of the Sony Alpha DSLR-900. The first three positions are justifiably taken by Nikon D300S, Canon EOS 7D, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1, Pentax K-7, and Olympus PEN E-P1.
Cost-wise PEN E-P1 provides the best option, followed closely by K-7, DMC-GF1, D300S and finally EOS 7D. PEN E-P1 provides the best price for the same number of effective pixels. Nikon, Pentax, and Olympus all provide almost the same number of effective pixels whatsoever Olympus costs considerably less than the other two. EOS 7D has the highest number of pixels i.e. 18.0 mp with the maximum resolution of 5184×3456 and the maximum pixel density of 5.4 MP/cm². Dimensionally Panasonic is the most compact of the five models and also has the edge of weighing the least in the group.
